Positive Attitude - The Key To True Happiness

By Madonna Jeffries

What is a positive attitude? Being secure and happy with your inner-self is the beginning of the process. A healthy self-image radiates love and assurance and makes the people who are around you experience a similar vibration. Having an optimistic mental state is a fundamental component for achieving success in every area of your life. Your disposition dictates how you approach your life and is mirrored in your work, business ventures, sporting efforts and relationships.

To accomplish your desires in life it is necessary that you have a winner's attitude. People that we applaud for achieving prominence would not have achieved their desires by living their life with a dispassionate disposition. The primary elements for a triumphant life are trusting in yourself, being able to visualize your success and living with with a positive attitude.

A positive attitude achieves an expectant outlook on life. You will feel joyful, healthier and more energetic. Your belief in yourself and your talents will be magnified and by embracing an open and positive attitude your consciousness will be receptive to the opportunities that will start to come your way. Often when people have a negative attitude they become entirely preoccupied with their problems and are unable to see the opportunities that are right in front of them. Once you train your consciousness to automatically embark upon a positive attitude your problems will not be as momentous and you will be able to attend to them calmly.

By nature we all delight in spending time with positive people. They make us feel great about life by lifting our spirits. Attitude, whether it's positive of negative, is extremely infectious - make the choice to spend your time with positive people and your spirit will take on the same vibration. When you jump into your life with a positive attitude your body will be surrounded with a light energy which will magnetically draw people towards you.

By absolutely believing that your dreams will become a reality you have within you the ability to be, do and have whatever you desire - connect this with a positive attitude and you will be irrepressible. In 1903 a renowned New York engineering professor had said that it would be impossible for man to fly. The Wright Brothers piloted the world's first powered airplane a fortnight later. The Wright Brothers had a definite advantage - they positively believed that their goal was achievable!

Don't let fear of failure hold you back from pursuing your dreams - have faith in your dreams and face the world with a positive attitude. We all have the potential to soar to great heights if we take on a positive attitude like the Wright Brothers.

GAS Up Your Positive Attitude

By Leanne Hoagland-Smith

Do you truly understand the power of attitudes? Many are enthralled with The Secret which when rendered down reaffirms the wise words of Henry Ford. Whether you think you can or you think you cannot, either way you are right.

The Secret is all about attitudes. How your habits of thoughts react to every day events.

You might had heard about positive attitudes from individuals like Napoleon Hill in his classic Think and Grow Rich to Dr. Cooper in his work Get Out of Your Own Way. Our attitudes are with us 24/7.

So are you attitudes where you need them to be to get you to where you want to go?

We all need help in maintaining positive attitudes. What I have learned is that when individuals use Goals, Affirmations and Self Leadership skills, they are better equipped to maintain consistently positive attitudes.

So why are goals important to keeping positive attitudes? Have you ever head the phrase Success breeds success? Goals are the vehicle that allow us to move from where we are now to where we want to go.

Affirmations help us to keep those positive thoughts coming and coming. They also serve another purpose. They keep negative thoughts from coming and coming.

Human beings due to caring parents have been conditioned negatively. All the don'ts in their earlier lives develop into Don't Attitudes. Affirmations help turn those Don't Attitudes to positive Do Attitudes.

Last, but not least, are Self Leadership Skills. Some people may call these strong interpersonal skills. Whatever you call them, unless you can lead yourself first, you will be unable to lead anyone else. People follow people with positive attitudes. You need to develop those self leadership skills that will help you maintain a positive attitude.

By combing goals, affirmations and self leadership skills all together, you will definitely have great positive attitudes. Remember, a successful life is for those who can answer the important question: Do I want to do what I need to do to get to where I need to go? Life is truly about having and maintaining great positive attitudes.

Positive Attitude: Develop and Maintain - It is The First Step to Success

Attitude is the word that is applied to everybody regardless of age, sex, race and profession. Be it a student or executive, maid or teacher, employee or employer, attitude is the keyword. Without positive attitude, one can never become a good teacher, student or boss. That is how important having a positive attitude is.

Before we embark on our road to success, we must start to observe our thinking that is going on in our mind. Is it positive thinking that is going on in our mind or it is the negative thinking? It is so important to develop a positive attitude at the start of our journey to success and long the way to success to maintain the positive attitude. When we do that, then we will have the stamina and the motivation to last the whole journey.
Whether you attract success or failure really depends on your attitude. Those who focus their attention on the good qualities that they have and take time to relish in their achievements, no matter how small they are - will inevitably attract success.
One fact is clear -- in life we will fail more often than we succeed. But those who continue to maintain a positive attitude, enjoy success, never give up and always stay focused on success - can achieve their dreams.

Unfortunately, most people tend to focus their thoughts on what they did wrong, what they failed at, why things didn't work out, why they're not good enough. These negative thoughts are sure to attract failure.

So it is so important to develop and maintain a positive attitude in order for us to continue our journey to success. Remember that positive attitude attract success and negative attitude attracts failure. Having a positive attitude is only the beginning as the next action will be taking action. You can have all the positive attitude in the world but if you do not take any action nothing will happen. So have a positive attitude and take action today

Powerful Leadership - A Positive Attitude in Leaders Produces Results in More Ways Than One!

By B. K. Smith

Leadership skills are valuable and always worth improving. As a leader grows and develops, it not only helps improve their life, but the lives of those around them. A key skill to develop and maintain is a positive attitude.

Why? Men and women rise and fall everyday because of their attitude.

"Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude." -- Thomas Jefferson

Positive Attitude - The Critical Factor in Leadership

If you really want to go anywhere as a leader, you have to examine your attitude! Whatever attitude you accept at this time is a critical factor in determining the success or failure of your future.

Too often people never come to a place of leadership where God wants them. Or they don't produce the results that are expected, because of a negative attitude. A leader may want God to use them, but He is saying "No" because of their sour, nasty attitude. A negative attitude will hinder a leaders potential.

And don't be one that points the finger of blame at others, especially as a leader. Each persons attitude is their own responsibility.

Often times, people with bad attitudes don't know that they have one. But if you are a leader and find yourself pointing the finger of blame at others regularly, that may be a great reason to examine the condition of your own thoughts and heart.

Positive Attitude - Helping Leaders Produce Positive Results

Understand that the attitude a leader has toward how they view and handle things, will determine the results they produce. As long as a leader is viewing things negatively, they are going to get negative results.

Leaders should not let other people govern their production and outcome. Leaders must have an "I can" attitude. Many people miss opportunities and promotions that God has for them because they let someone else determine their attitude.

Of course as a leader, challenges are always going to come and attempt to get you to accept a bad or negative attitude. But remember it is a critical factor to have a positive, 'I can' attitude about what you are doing in order to produce positive results.

The results not only show up in the life of the leader, but in the life of those being led. This is the case whether it is a leadership role in a family, ministry, or business. You can make a difference.

"When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked rule, the people mourn." - Proverbs 29:2

Bottom line: A Leaders attitude will create results. It is up to the leader to choose the attitude they will put on for the results they desire. A leadership role should require a positive attitude and one that produces positive results.

May you be a leader that maintains a positive attitude and a life of growing prosperity!

The Effect of a Positive Attitude on Our Lives

By Aakash Shah

Attitude is a state of mind. It is not something we can touch or see in a person. Attitude is visible in the manner of a person in a particular situation. If you are a person with a positive attitude then it will help you a lot. A positive attitude will help you stay calm both mentally and physically. A positive outlook will help you find good opportunities in a situation that will make other people lose hope completely. Instead of focusing on the problems, a positive attitude will help you focus on finding the solution of the problem.

It is a fact that you will be able to achieve the goals you have set for yourself only if you spend your time trying to find a solution for the problems. If you become negative start keep whining about the problems in your life then your goals will never be achieved by you. Keeping a positive attitude is not a very difficult thing. You can easily create a positive thinking system in your mind that focuses on the solution and not on the problems.

You should be happy about what is right in your life instead of crying about all that is wrong in it. You will find that all the successful people in the world have positive attitude in them. It is not like that they never had any obstacles in their way of success but they dared to fight with those problems with a positive mindset and overcame their problems.

They fought those problems and were able to recover from the setbacks and failures they saw. For a normal person, it almost looks like that they had some magic wand that they used to make things work according to them. But the truth is we all have that magic wand among us. The name of that magic is positive attitude. Now it depends on you whether you want to use this magic or just want to whine about your situation.

Our brain often forgets the situations we face in our lives but it remember our mindset and emotions during that situation forever. Often such emotions get transformed in our actions when we face a problem or situation in life. It can be a new situation but similar to the one we have experienced before or it could be a completely new situation but it may ignite the same emotions in us. For instance, a student that has failed an exam in the early stages of his life may forget the reason of his failure or may even forget about the exam all together. But he will remember the feeling of failure he felt at that time for the rest of his life.

This is where the positive attitude comes in play. Positive attitude helps us overcome those feelings. If you keep a negative attitude then your brain will remind of those feelings of failure, each time even a remote possibility of failure arises in front of you. But a positive attitude will make you see beyond that situation and instead of feeling sad and disheartened by those feelings you will be able to overcome them.

These types of feelings can only be conquered by the people with positive attitude and those of you who do not have that quality will be stuck in that examination room forever. Every one of you is born with the ability to see the positive side of things but only few practice this ability. With a positive attitude you can achieve everything you want in life. A positive attitude is the answer to every problem in life. Therefore go ahead and achieve your goals with the right attitude.

Positive Attitude - A Source of Energy For the Soul

By Aakash Shah

A person with a positive attitude is always more healthy and energetic. Now, you may ask what is the relation between one's health and his attitude? Well, there is a very important relation. A positive attitude is as important for our health as a healthy diet. Just like the food we eat keeps our body strong, a positive attitude keeps our mind strong and healthy. Being mentally strong is as important as being physically strong. Your mind should be completely active in order to keep your body active. You can do this only if your attitude is positive. If you think positively about yourself and life, you will find everything to be easy and achievable. And you will also find yourself capable of solving and overcoming any problem in life. This will make you feel much happier. A happier person is obviously a healthier person. If you keep telling yourself to have a positive attitude then you will feel much better about your surroundings and the world will look like a happier place to you.

But, suppose you are facing some major problems in life. The problem can be in any aspect of your life, for instance, loss in a business or in career, problems in personal relationships etc. Such type of situations can make any person stressed. Most of us will get disappointed by such circumstances and start focusing on the problem only. But if you keep a positive attitude in such a situation then you can access the problem much better.

A positive attitude will make you concentrate on finding a solution to the problem instead of the problem itself. With the right attitude, you will be able to focus all of your energy on solving the problem. It will also help you stay calm in the face of adversaries as you have the confidence to fight them. A positive attitude gives you the guts to see the problem as a challenge and not an obstacle. If you see the world with a positive outlook, only then you will be able to enjoy the true beauty of it. You will find your self more enthusiastic and energetic towards life.

Hence, a positive attitude is a great source of energy for us. Once you adopt this attitude and make it a habit of always thinking positively, you will realize the benefits of it. You will clearly understand that how all the successful people in the world became who they are today.

Positive attitude gives us the confidence to live our lives much better. If you keep your attitude positive, you will see yourself reaching the heights which you have only dreamed till now. You will gain a sense of satisfaction towards yourself. Therefore, in order to get the energy of a successful person, you must adopt their attitude. And that is a positive attitude.

Excellent Tips on Developing a Positive Attitude

By Wil Dieck

William James, the founder of American Psychology once said, "The most important discovery of our time is that we can alter our lives by altering our attitude." Zig Ziglar, motivational speaker extraordinaire said it this way, "Your attitude will determine your altitude in life". In other words your attitude determines how far you'll go in life. Your attitude can make or break you.

A positive mental outlook can help you achieve optimal success. Having a positive mental attitude helps you better cope with life's challenges. When life puts you to the test, a positive attitude can help you find your inner strength and overcome adversity. Your positive attitude just might be your winning edge. A study by Harvard University showed that 85% of the reasons for success and accomplishment were because of attitude and only 15% because of technical knowledge and expertise. What this study demonstrates is that it doesn't always matter if you have the tools, skills, knowledge, or resources, the right mental attitude can get you through tough times and help you come out on top.

On the other hand, if you have an attitude filled with a negative perspective it will make everything in your life much harder. Ask any Olympic athlete why they won their event. They'll tell you that they expected to win and that is why they won. This is a great lesson for us all. You can't win when you go into the contest prepared to lose! If you expect to do well, if you have a positive, expecting the best attitude, your winning thoughts will help you succeed.

The Law of Cause and Effect

Throughout my life I have read about cause and effect. You can read about this in depth in the Book, The Secret. What you expect you get. It's important to realize that for every effect in your life, there's a specific cause. This means that for you to change your future for the better, you must first alter your thoughts in the present. By directing your thoughts in a positive direction, you can control these causes and change your effects or outcomes.

Thoughts are like seeds in the mind. For every positive seed you plant, your thoughts will grow and reward you with a positive harvest. Negative seeds have the exact opposite effect. They'll grow, but result in a spoiled and fruitless crop. They'll also grow and grow until they crowd out positive thoughts and leave you thinking only of negativity and failure. You can't plant negative seeds in your mind and expect positive results. You mind just doesn't work that way.

Successful people all have one trait in common. They expect to succeed. They think success. Successful people vividly visualize their goals and take the action steps necessary to make them happen.

On the other hand, unsuccessful people spend their time dwelling on the negative. They use their time and energy complaining, and worrying about things that are unimportant. They "major in the minors". All this negativity does is waste time and energy that you could be channel toward achieving your goals.

Practice Makes Perfect

As you hone your positive thinking skills you'll develop the mental attitudes of a winner. This will allow you to be better able to overcome obstacles and challenges without giving up. No matter how disappointing things may get or how wholeheartedly others may try to discourage you, your winning attitude will make you unstoppable!

As you develop your positive outlook you will find that you are able to focus on your goals with tunnel vision. This focus will eliminate negative distractions and will keep you on your chartered course to success.

How you think is a learned process. Train your mind to focus on the good. If you need help with focusing on the positive read my article on keeping a gratitude journal. Another thing you can do is develop a positive mantra or affirmation that helps you overlook the negative and uncover the power of optimism in your life.

How to Train Your Mind

In order to make your mind think consistent, positive, winning thoughts you need training. Just as we train our bodies for peak performance, we must also train our minds by coaching ourselves to think winning thoughts. You need to put yourself on a mental positive fitness regimen.

One of they ways to do this is by using the NLP technique of "re-framing". Re-framing is looking at challenges as opportunities instead of obstacles. A problem is only a problem if you allow it to be one. A challenge, on the other hand, is an opportunity to learn and improve. So if you search for solutions, you'll find them.

As you internalize this mindset, you'll develop a winning attitude for a lifetime. This attitude will help you reap the rewards of true success and happiness.

A Positive Attitude Creates a Positive Attitude

By Gary M. Miller

Just as energy creates more energy, a positive attitude creates a positive attitude. So in effect, no matter how bad a situation may seem, you can make it better simply by pretending to have a positive attitude - even if you do not feel positive.

A positive attitude affects your own mindset, as well as the mindsets of the people around you. Therefore, even if you are just pretending to have a positive attitude, the people around you will be affected to the point where they develop a positive attitude in relation to the situation. This positive attitude will clear their thinking, and help them make better decisions in relation to the problem at hand - which helps you out as well, and helps your false positive attitude to become real as well.

That pretend positive attitude will also have a great deal of positive affect on anyone that you need to deal with that could be a solution to your problem as well - even if they are not directly involved in solving the problem. For instance, if your business is on the verge of collapse, and you needed to visit your banker to get a loan to carry the business through the financial crisis, you would not want to walk into his office crying and complaining about how bad business is. Instead, you would want to walk in with a smile on your face, and tell him positive things about the business and the plans for the future, so he can see that you have not given up, and he can see that there is a viable plan.

Pretending to have a positive attitude is not permission to tell untruths, however. The people that are involved in helping to resolve a problem must be told the truth of the circumstances. The point is to try to portray a positive attitude that a solution will be found, and to let your team know that you are not giving up, that you do not believe the situation is hopeless, and the situation will be resolved somehow - even if you do not really believe any of that yourself.

Furthermore, you can fool yourself into having a positive attitude as well. By pretending to have a positive attitude, you portray it for so long that it becomes a habit - a learned response. Without even realizing it, the positive attitude that you portray each day becomes real. When this happens, most people do not even remember that they were pretending in the first place!

Watch Out for that Positive Attitude

By Alison Finch

I'm going to begin on a positive note, and with a couple of rather bold statements.

Each and every one of us possesses a positive attitude somewhere inside us.

If you're not tapping into your positive attitude right now, and don't know where it's hiding, this article is going to help you find it!

And, let me reassure you right away, I'm not simply going to twitter on about putting a brave face on adversity and smiling through the pain. Telling yourself, over and over, that "I'm OK" is pretty meaningless if you're not. I'll leave those sorts of recommendations to others, but not before I point out why they usually do more harm than good.

In my view, a positive attitude is not much use when it's applied like make-up, or like paint over a fragile eggshell. A positive attitude is something deep down inside you - in the core of your being - and it's there to be used, actively and wisely, to make your life better.

If you've looked around much on the Internet, you'll know that there is a "wealth" of advice about the power of positive thinking. But I find myself feeling compelled to enclose "wealth" in inverted commas, because a lot of it is worthless (not all of it, of course) and some of it is rubbish!

Isn't "rubbish" being a bit harsh?

I have to confess, I did reflect on whether this statement was overly aggressive. I could have been more reticent and called it "questionable" or something like that. But I wanted to convey to you my personal frustration with any philosophy that is based on an avoidance of the truth. And I wanted to get your attention, because this is a critical statement:

Pretending something isn't happening does not make your life better!

Let's look at this in a bit more detail...

Questionable advice (and a bit of rubbish!)

To clear the way for discussing a positive attitude that works, let's take a quick look at some recommended "positive thinking" that is flawed. You can find variations on each of these bullet-points all over the Internet, and you may even have heard one or two of them from your friends and others who would presume to have your best interests at heart.

* nothing is sufficiently important for you to get angry about it - just let things wash over you Anger can take many forms, most of which are destructive and unpleasant. You see this sort of anger in children and those who have never quite grown out of being children. It is usually an impulsive (and illogical) extension of a sense of frustration that things are not going their way. But anger in its "adult" sense is a powerful emotion that arises when a principle that you hold dear is violated through some sort of injustice. In that case, your sense of anger tells you that you care and helps you find the energy and motivation to do something constructive to put things right. As a human being, you cannot simply let everything wash over you unless you have stopped caring about outcomes.
* there's good in everyone if you look hard enough A very dear friend says that he was often told this by his parents. In middle-age he had begun to question why some people made you look so hard! And, by the way, historians have considerable evidence that Adolf Hitler liked dogs. This was pointed out to me in justification of the "good in everyone" argument, by a supposedly reputable psychotherapist to whom I was once speaking, although I must confess she is no longer in my address book. Yes, I can accept he might have liked dogs, but is that in any way meaningful in the context of his other failings?
* don't judge people I have a small mental list of favourite absurd statements. Near the top is "she's such a good friend because she never judges me!" If you don't judge someone you have no opinion of them or their actions. You could have no right to like or dislike anything they did or didn't do! There is no doubt you DO judge people, the question is whether you listen to and act wisely upon that judgement or simply let it "wash over you". Judging someone based on your knowledge of him or her is a sensible and logical thing, while pre-judging an individual based on racial or other stereotypes is clearly ridiculous.
* always find forgiveness in your heart, no matter what the crime Forgiveness carries with it a sense of writing off the past as if it didn't happen. Indeed, some years ago people would refer to "forgiving a debt" in the way we now claim to "write it off". So, I can forgive my son Leo if he breaks something accidentally through the exuberance of being eight years old. Last week he broke a window with a particularly energetic swing of his prized two-foot miniature golf club, but his remorse was genuine and I don't feel a need to take account of the breakage in my future interactions with him. I can literally forget it (which reminds me, I still need to get that pane fixed!) But if someone consciously and deliberately lied to me about an important issue, the betrayal would stay with me forever. It would doubtless make sense for me to move on with my life and deal with the consequences of that betrayal in a positive way, but I don't imagine I would ever reach a point where it was forgotten or where I felt indifferent about the fact that it occurred.
* repeat positive affirmations every day and they will change your life If the positive affirmations aren't actually true, the only way they can change your life is to take you further and further away from reality. That's the key - look for the truth in what you're telling yourself: if it's true you can believe it; if you believe it you can act on it; if you can act on it you can make things better.
* don't read a newspaper or listen to the news on TV as it will only depress you There are many variations on this particular theme, but all of them basically tell you not to listen to bad news. But life all around you is influenced by REAL news - good and bad - and you will always make better decisions if the decisions you're making take place in the real world, not some fluffy-cushion fantasy. After all, could any of us really claim that we'd be living a more fulfilled and worthwhile life if we hadn't heard of 9/11 or the subsequent terrorist bombings in Madrid and London? What planet would we be living on?

A better way (in fact, it's foolproof!)

I used to work for a man who would habitually classify people as "glass half-full" or "glass half-empty" types, according to how they would supposedly describe identical volumes of water. I'm sure you know how the "logic" runs: the person seeing a half-full glass sees an opportunity ahead, whereas the other is a defeatist who sees resources draining away to nothing. This always struck me as rather nonsensical. The truth is, you'd be perfectly correct in describing the situation either way, and the imagined vessel in the metaphor gives no clue as to whether you are likely to have more or less water in the future.

A person with a genuinely positive attitude looks beyond the "snapshot" situation, because he or she is always striving to bring the best out of whatever is going on in the real world. A genuinely positive attitude requires some understanding of a situation, so that informed choices can be made that give the best chance of a good outcome.

To have a positive attitude you first have to possess positive qualities that you can use effectively and in various ways depending on the circumstances in which you find yourself. The great news is that you already have these qualities, because they're a part of our basic human nature.

Using these qualities comes more naturally to some than others. That's partly because we're all unique and partly because our individual circumstances may have influenced (positively or negatively) our belief in our ability to affect our own lives. Certainly, if your self-esteem is low it is much harder to focus on the positive qualities that you possess, but help is at hand and that's one of the reasons I built this website!

A positive attitude can become a natural habit for you, even if you don't consider that you've ever had a positive attitude in the past. You can learn how to achieve this, not by some sort of "act of faith" like repeating a positive affirmation over and over, but by taking practical steps in the real world.

Quite simply, you need to cultivate a number of your qualities, bit by bit, day by day, and there's help at hand if you need some "how to" advice.

Here are five qualities I'd like to highlight for you. I chose these in particular because they each contribute significantly to a positive attitude and they're easy for you to remember because they all begin with a "C"!

Curiosity

Curiosity is what motivates us to find out about things, and if we find out about things we can make better decisions because those decisions have a sound foundation. Things usually become less frightening if we begin to understand them better, so allow and encourage your curiosity to let you try new approaches.

Creativity

We all have an imagination, and we can all put it to good effect in examining possible ways to bring about an improvement in our lives. If thinking about the future frightens you, it's likely that your imagination habitually looks for negative possibilities. You can re-train it to look for positives instead. Just start with some gentle experimentation, and find opportunities to say things like "I have an idea...", "what if we...", or even "erm... there must be a better way, so let's look for it together".

Courage

If we allow our fears to overwhelm our desires then we can find ourselves freezing to inactivity while mentally running away, both of which lower our confidence and diminish our self-esteem. Courage is the key to overriding those fears and living life to the full, and the more you use it the easier it gets to use it again because you accumulate evidence to suggest using your courage is the right thing to do. Living in fear is often worse than a painful consequence that may arise from taking a calculated risk. When you're used to using your courage you can actually find that the amount of pleasure you experience rises, even if you occasionally fail.

Here's a simple example: if you're so scared of a visit to the dentist that you put it off until your mouth is in agony then you might live through months of fear, apprehension and foreboding, and still end up with lots of pain at the end. Whereas, if you kept a regular dental appointment, all you'd have to endure is a little nervous anxiety on the day. Tapping into your courage is the same as tapping into a source of pleasure, so have a go today - you won't regret it.

I chose this example because I was well into my adult years here in the UK before I discovered that not all trips to the dentist needed to be painful. Actually, I don't think it was courage that was my problem, but if I had used some curiosity and creativity at an earlier age, I might have decided to try to locate a more competent dentist!

Communication

Few things can bring about positive change more quickly than good communication. If you struggle to put your own ideas and feelings into words, or you sometimes suffer from misunderstandings, then we can help. A positive attitude can be infectious, and it carries most readily through conversation. So try to find opportunities to speak with other people whom you think have a positive attitude, and you'll find it boosts your own!

Commitment

If you've got this far in this article, you've shown some commitment to making things better for yourself. Now you need to decide whether to go further and make real, sustainable improvements in your life by putting into practice what we've talked about here. Commitment can sound like a scary word, but it is actually your powerful ally. It will liberate you from feelings of self-doubt, because it will help you to bounce back, time after time on your road to improvement.

So, make some commitments now. Get off the pity-pot if you're on it, DO something actively to boost your self-esteem, and tap into that positive attitude deep down inside you by developing the core qualities I've listed above.

Tips for Maintaining a Positive Attitude

By Robert Kokoska

Highly successful people exhibit an impeccable attitude of positive behavior and there is nothing these people can't achieve in their life. There is absolutely nothing they cannot aspire to be and there is simply nothing they cannot possess! These people are the masters of positive attitude, a self realized energy that propels them towards the path of greatness. You can do whatever you want if you have the power of positive attitude. How you steer your life, depends on how you adjust your attitude; a positive attitude will help you develop a successful career, while a negative attitude will create more problems in your personal life.

Attitude is a state of your mind; it also tests your patience and stress. If you handle your stress with optimism and hope, you'll come out of the clutches of despair and hopelessness. A positive attitude will also ensure that you stay optimistic in whatever do you do and perform in your life. Optimists are effective in countering any form of stress or problem to emerge as ultimate winners, while a pessimist is likely to deny the existence of problem and run away from the source of problem as well. An optimist invariably becomes successful in achieving his cherished goals, while a pessimist can never hope to become successful, because of his negative attitude.

More often the trait of positive attitude is developed from the time we are adolescent A person shows a high degree of positive attitude, if he/she grows in an environment, that is highly positive and immensely hopeful. People with a positive attitude always look at things very positively and respond to any tricky situation with positive answers like, "Yes, I can do it", "It is achievable", "It is perfectly possible" and "I am capable". While negatively inclined people always complain about people and situations and are always pessimistic in what ever they think and do.

It is also a correct time to get rid of those negative thoughts and behavior and achieve cherished goals for a happy life. Here are some of the suggested ways to get rid of those bad, negative feelings and develop right attitude and positive mindset, in their place:

1. When you see the signs of a negative attitude or feelings creeping in your mind, say STOP; instead start visualizing those vividly beautiful pictures of success and contentment.

2. Experts suggest a novel way of stopping negative thoughts from your mind. Though this method is a bit difficult to master, you can try them at your own leisure. Thought stopping process involves two basic stages: a driving mechanism to shoo away all those negative feelings and perceptions and an infiltration mechanism whereby your negative mind is infiltrated with positive thoughts and feelings.

3. Self talk and positive affirmations are known scientific mind principles which can help you develop positive mindset. Develop your own self talk and affirmation statement and start talking to yourself on a regular basis.

4. Another unusual method is to create sticky notes with positive statements like, "I can do it", "I am capable", "Success is mine" and "I have a purpose", and to stick them up on your car dashboard, study table, personal diary, study room cupboard and dining places, where you can see the message everyday and night.

5. Get acquainted with highly successful people with tangible achievements. Right association and acquaintance will make things easy for you to develop positive attitude.

6. Start reading all those positive self help books and magazine. Attend to self help workshops and seminars.
